Navigating Your Relationship Journey: A Guide to Our Services

Seeking help when your relationship is hurting can feel overwhelming. With a variety of services available, it’s easy to feel confused about which one might be the best fit for you and your relationship.

Here at Sacred Ground Psychotherapy, we offer a range of services utilizing Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), all designed to help you and your partner find relief and connection again in the relationship that matters most.

With the analogy of personal fitness, we hope to bring clarity to your options so you and your partner can feel empowered to choose the best fit for your relationship and start the healing journey of finding each other again.

Hold Me Tight® Workshop: Your ‘Fitness Foundations Course’

Imagine enrolling in a course designed to set you up for success in your personal fitness by teaching the ‘why’ and offering hands-on experience of ‘how to.’ First, you’d learn the basics of how your body works and the key principles of exercise. Next, an expert coach would show you specific gym equipment and guide you in how to use it to meet your goals. And the best part is, you get to try that equipment right away with your expert coach giving you feedback on your form in real-time to set you up for success in future workouts.

That’s exactly what the Hold Me Tight® workshop offers for your relationship. It’s an educational and experiential deep dive into the emotional underpinnings of secure connection, delivered over a 2-day private workshop or an 8-week group workshop. You’ll learn about the science of attachment and common negative cycles in relationships and practice how to have those essential, emotionally vulnerable conversations with your partner with real-time guidance from expert support.

While it’s not therapy in the traditional sense, the workshop provides tools and insights you can start applying right away and take home, regardless of your current “relational fitness level.” Whether your relationship is thriving and you just want to strengthen your bond, or you're struggling with recurring disconnection and distress, this format helps you understand why things happen and how to reconnect through a structured approach.

Weekly Couples Therapy: Your ‘Personal Relationship Trainer’

Now, picture yourself regularly working out, but you start experiencing some aches, pains, or you hit a frustrating plateau. This is where a personal trainer comes in. Meeting with them weekly, they observe your form, design a program tailored to your goals, listen to your specific discomforts, and immediately modify your exercises. They help you push past challenges, alleviate immediate discomfort, and keep you on track towards your fitness goals. This consistent, customized one-on-one support allows for long-term progress and personal transformation.

Weekly couples therapy sessions with a skilled therapist are much like having a personal trainer for your relationship. Your therapist will meet with you and your partner weekly to address specific issues, recurring conflicts, or moments where you feel stuck. They help you identify the underlying emotions and patterns that contribute to your difficulties, offering "on-the-spot" interventions and clarity to transform daily challenges. This consistent, focused support helps you navigate immediate challenges, modify difficult interaction patterns, and slowly build new, healthier ways of engaging. Just like with a fitness trainer, the pace is steady and consistent, progress is measured over time, and interventions are modified to match your goals and pain points.

Couples Intensive: Your ‘Relationship Fitness Retreat’

Finally, consider a multi-day fitness retreat. These are a few immersive days filled with guided workouts, personalized coaching, and expert support, all designed to help you make rapid progress in your physical conditioning or overcome a significant fitness hurdle. Here, you’re deeply immersed in intense, focused workouts and receiving constant personalized coaching and guidance where you’re living it, breathing it, and pushing through major breakthroughs. This concentrated effort allows for rapid improvement and helps you break through significant barriers.

A couples intensive mirrors this experience. It's a concentrated period of therapy spanning 3 days, designed for couples who want to accelerate their progress or address deeply entrenched issues. During an intensive, you and your partner engage in a series of sessions with sustained, expert support, offering a focused space for a deep dive into core emotional patterns and disconnection. This allows for meaningful shifts in your relationship in a short period of time. You’ll experience the same powerful principles of EFT, but condensed and concentrated, compressing 3 months of therapy into a 3-day period.

Which Option is Right for You?

The truth is, there’s no one-size-fits-all answer. Some couples find it helpful to begin with a Hold Me Tight® workshop to get familiar with EFT principles, and then they might transition into weekly therapy for ongoing support. Others might pursue a couples intensive first, especially if the stakes feel high or they’re ready to feel better sooner, often following up with ongoing sessions to maintain momentum and integrate their gains. Just like with physical fitness, the best results come from exploring your needs, your goals, and the kind of support that will keep you moving forward.
